we do find that effect of iq and crime very small β = −0.10, using full brothers and I would assume if you did within-family analysis you would get even smaller effect due to full brother biasing genetics upwards

Ran the experiment for Columbia using admissions data (h/t @cremieuxrecueil). If Columbia admitted purely by SAT in 2024, the cutoff would be 1560 — and the class would be 46% East Asian.
Black and Hispanic students would essentially disappear.

Its status. What women want is status. In the past you had to get married to increase your social status a little.
Now in the modern western world due to technological and social advancement, women can accrue status via education and profession which takes a big chunk out of prime reproductive years.
When smart and sensible ladies finally find the appropriate mate and opportunity to have a baby, because they have accrued status via education and profession, they will lose that. They lose status.
Because you obviously have to take a huge amount of time out of being economically productive to raise your baby.
