A huge well done to the Year 5 feeder school students who came and enjoyed a science master class in our science department today! They extracted DNA from various fruits and found out that bananas contained the most! 🧬 @MSJBolton

The students used their STEM skills in science club this week to design the strongest bridge. The winner held an impressive 96 coins!

Year 10 separate science students have been working hard to create salts in neutralisation reactions. Mrs Zaman has never seen copper sulphate crystals so big! 🧪🧑‍🔬🥼

Mrs McLoughlin’s classes have had lots of fun this week planning and performing their own science experiments in preparation for the science fair! We can’t wait to see their presentations at the science fair on the 2nd April! #BritishScienceWeek

#BritishScienceWeek is well and underway with Mrs Zaman’s Year 7 class. The class spent time perfecting their investigation displays aiming to win a spot at the first MSJ Science Fair!

The #EcoClub had a few special visitors whose ancestors came from Mexico! Students got to see firsthand a recently hatched baby axolotl and some eggs which will be due to hatch over the next week and learn why these are endangered in the wild with only an estimated 50-1000 left.

Mrs Dasgupta is excited to see how Gemma’s science project works out! She has produced this beautiful plan. Well done Gemma!

Faizan in Y10 came to the science teachers briefing this morning to share his vision for our science week events. He spoke very confidently and is definitely a future leader!

Following their work experience, Shamila and Omose went into the Mandela assembly today to launch British Science Week. The girls did a fantastic job and we can’t wait to see all students involved in the activities coming up next week!

Mrs Zaman went into St Ethelbert’s before half term to teach about microscopes. The Year 5 class were fantastic. They enjoyed using the microscopes and even made their very own onion cells to view!

Thank you so much to Omose and Shamila in Y10 who have completed their work experience in science this week! They have been amazing!

Well done to Bobbi in Year 7 who today, was showing off her preparation for next weeks science test!
