For years, most fertility research has focused on the embryo. But new @NIH-funded research from @MSUMD and @rutgershealth suggests that the health of the uterus itself may be a key part of the puzzle.

The launch of Rx Kids in Detroit is a great example of what can happen when a public university fully steps into its responsibility to serve its neighbors. By leading Rx Kids, @MSUMD is translating research into real-world impact.

In honor of #BlackHistoryMonth, we proudly recognize Dr. Rey Bouknight, a trailblazer, leader, and longtime champion of excellence, equity, and community impact at @MSU_Medicine, @MSUMD. Dr. Bouknight was the first African American faculty member in Internal Medicine and the first African American Community Assistant Dean, where he helped shape institutional policy by developing the College’s first AIDS policy for students. Over the years, he has served the Department in numerous leadership roles, including Chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine, Medical Director of the Internal Medicine Clinic, Director of Quality Improvement, and Program Director for CHM Grand Rounds. A nationally engaged educator and clinician, Dr. Bouknight has been a tireless advocate for AIDS education and minority health, contributing through statewide task forces, public media appearances, and extensive scholarly work. His career includes dozens of research papers, and more than $1.4 million in grant-funded research, along with numerous teaching and clinical excellence awards. Beyond the academic setting, Dr. Bouknight’s commitment to service extends deeply into the community. As President of the Board for Eaglevision Ministries, a non-profit co-founded with his wife Dr. LaClaire Bouknight, he has helped support vulnerable populations including sex trafficking survivors, veterans, ex-offenders, African immigrants, and young people pursuing their GED. We are grateful for Dr. Bouknight’s enduring legacy of leadership, mentorship, and service — and proud to celebrate his impact during #BlackHistoryMonth.
