Confirmation that @stlCITYsc were in on pursuing current MLS Golden Boot leader Hugo Cuypers. He joined Monterrey for a reported $7.5m fee that rises to $8m w/add ons. This is the kind of tangible proof #AllForCITY fans should look at to know the FO is doing work behind the scenes and the type of player they’re looking to add. Now we just need for one to stick the landing.

Reports out of Romania linking @stlCITYsc to Alex Mǎțan, a 5’5 26 yr old right footed attacking midfielder. Out of contract now but recently played for Panetolikos in Greece, played the the Crew from 21-24 & was a Donanian youth int’l. Mǎțan was making $483/yr w/the Crew in ‘24, for perspective on how big of a signing this would be (Durkin & Edelman both make near $670k & Sangbin is at $791k). #AllForCITY

Interesting. From a roster construction perspective, it either means another move is coming or someone from the supplemental roster moved to the senior roster. Prior to his loan, Olivares was a supplemental roster player. Him coming back would put #AllForCITY over the 10 player limit. @42Danielgavura @MattBakerSTL @stlCITYsc Yeah the promos for ticket packages is not a good sign. Clearly fan interest/willingness to pay such high prices is waning. Also, leads me to believe they don’t expect a huge interest catalyst by way of major signing coming…

@MStank16 @MattBakerSTL @stlCITYsc I've seen alot of CITY commercials. It's interesting how many ticket packages CITY is promoting though as well as they must be having a hard time selling tickets. Signing quality players would drive the interest in saying hey we want to keep the momentum going but haven't yet

I don’t know about other markets, but I have seen a ton of @stlCITYsc commercials during the World Cup. What seems to be happening, is the league isn’t blasting “tune into MLS” across the country, they’re letting local teams market themselves. It’s good in that you’re more likely to create new fans of a local club vs generically to an entire league but it’s limiting in that a ton of potential fans may not live particular close to a team to feel a sense of identity w/them. What I think the league should be doing is paying for airtime on Fox or Telemundo especially to tout their big stars who are currently and still in the World Cup. Reinforce the quality the league has. I’ve seen the likes of @MattDoyle76 tout the MLS impact relative to other leagues (it’s good) and that’s where the league focus should be to create awareness for potential new fans. I like the local approach but without leveraging these high impact players who folks are currently watching… it seems that Garber’s idea of taking the handoff from the World Cup isn’t being done seamlessly.
