The only person Marvel Studios should’ve tapped to direct ‘Blade’ reboot should’ve been to Guillermo del Toro. That man has a talent out of this world and anything he touches turns to gold, much like ‘Blade II’, Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth, and The Shape Of Water.

@WhimsyDevile @T1v4n_ @rdcburner The first movie isn’t that good and hasn’t aged well but it’ll be harder to top the sequel which was good from start to finish, especially with the Reapers design (probably the best design ever made for a horror/vampire movie)

Well, we can put Mahershala as Blade down in the done and dusted category. And forget him making a surprise appearance in Secret Wars. These are some pretty definitive words from him. My two cents? It came down to him wanting to do a certain kind of period piece Blade movie that leaned into the blackness of the character (and rightfully so). But Marvel just balked at doing that in the end for whatever reason (political, script issues, changing MCU arcs) and they couldn’t find a compromise. What do y’all think happened here?
