Hey #WritingCommunity, I've got an AI question. Is ok or cheating to use AI to help fix grammar and writing structure, point out plot holes, and give suggestions on writing as long as it only pulls from your actual writing/manuscript, and you rewrite the corrections yourself?

@Meredith_author Awesome! Thank you for the info! I'm still working on my book, but figured during the writer blocks I could research the publishing side of writing.

@RoseHavilah Well, that's really it there, not being able to afford an editor. And, if you do fork out money, you get what you pay for. Good editors are not cheap. Then on the second set of eyes, same thing. Its rare to find someone you don't have to pay for. The other factor is time too.

@RoseHavilah That's what I was mainly looking into, using it as a tool. I dabbled a tiny bit with chatgpt and grok, to see what they can do, specifically telling them to only pull from my writing and nothing else. The results seem good. They do try a different voice, but rewrite it to my own.

@MTMasonMythical Yeah, I think AI can be a useful tool. As long as it isn't used as a creative voice. I'm paranoid tho and I haven't used one because I'm afraid it will mine for data. That's just me tho

@RoseHavilah Since we've established to be genuine, I was hoping you could answer a question, or I guess give your opinion on, is it wrong or cheating if you us AI to help your writing if it only pulls from your writing and you rewrite it yourself? I haven't gotten any real input on this yet

@MTMasonMythical It is. I'd rather get 1 genuine interaction rather than a thousand bots and scammers

@RoseHavilah That's good to hear. Getting genuine interaction nowadays seems to be a rare thing.

@MTMasonMythical I haven't gotten a lot of interactions, but they've all been genuine. Unlike Wattpad

@RoseHavilah How is Substack working out for you? I tried Wattpad, and it seemed like I only interacted with bots and scammers...

@AuthorGFAllen Writing it first. The story is stuck in my head and needs to be on paper. But, I guess selling it is the end goal. Though its more about getting the story to the masses than the money itself.
