In Ethiopia, the official pump price stands at 142.41 Ethiopian Birr per liter, or roughly $0.907 per liter (about $3.43 per gallon). For the same amount of gas I purchased today totaling $74.94 for roughly 17.595 gallons (about 66.6 liters), I would spend approximately only $60.35 in Ethiopia which saving me around $14.59 compared to my US fill-up. Gas is cheaper in Ethiopia because the government is highly subsidizing it. If it was subsidized by the Prosperity Party led government, gas price would have been much more expensive than most of the world.
