Genuinely think Tuchel has ruined any chance of managing not just United, but any top English club again. Whether he wants the job or not is a different conversation, but based on everything he’s done with Mainoo and this England team, he’s seriously damaged his reputation. I have a theory. I think United might wait until next summer to move for Baleba. If he performs at the same level again and goes into the final year of his contract, we’d have far more leverage in negotiations. If not, we’ve avoided spending a huge fee on the back of one outstanding season.

Agreed. I still think Koné is probably the better all-round fit because of his height, ability on the ball, and defensive qualities. That said, I don’t think João Gomes would be a bad option at all. I also have a little theory of my own. I think United’s dream target is probably Baleba, but instead of paying a huge fee this summer, they might wait another season. If he performs at the same level again and enters the final year of his contract, we’d be in a much stronger position to negotiate with Brighton. In the meantime, João Gomes would be a smart signing for a reasonable fee who improves us immediately. I also don’t think Mount has much of a future at United, so I could definitely see us going back into the market for another midfielder next summer.

@MUFCVOLT @FrankEra_ That's the Portuguese for you. They rarely get injured. Just look at Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot, they're always available. And then there's Cristiano Ronaldo, who at 41 has still missed very few games. Availability is a quality in itself.
