If there is one thing that #Senegal, #Maroc and ⚽️ fans across #Africa agree on, about the 2025 #AFCON final, it is that Referee Jean-Jacques Ngambo Ndala of DRC (pictured) made a dog’s breakfast of the 18th January game in Rabat. I think @TheIFAB needs to help @CAF_Online and 🌎 ⚽️ by making an amendment to the Laws of the Game. There should be either: (a) A fixed time limit for players to return to the field, whenever there is a walkoff, after which the referee is duty bound to call a forfeit. Or: (b) It is made crystal clear, in the Laws, that once a team leaves the field, it is an automatic forfeit, whether the referee calls it or not. Right now, it’s totally at the referee’s discretion, as to whether and when an abandonment or forfeit is called. This isn’t working very well in African football. As we lawyers say, there is a lacuna in the laws that desperately needs a fix.
