💯 Correct! Further, you can’t develop a single undergraduate degree that trades off depth & breadth in subjects collectively known as ‘biology’ and effectively prepares students for the modern job market.
Phillip Compeau@PhillipCompeau

Every biology undergraduate degree in the United States has been obsolete for 30 years, serves its students poorly by failing to prepare them for the realities of the job market, and should be completely overhauled. Bring it on

@rmwaterhouse Curious, have enough high-quality assemblies been published to develop a Daphnia-specific BUSCO set?

While the salinization aspect is really interesting my favorite aspect of this project was pairing resurrection ecology and whole-genome sequencing. We were able use these together to demonstrate evolution in action in a really convincing way.

We used resurrection ecology, whole-genome sequencing, and phenotypic assays to demonstrate evidence for rapid #evolution to increasing salinity in a #Daphnia population.

Unlike other pollutants, chloride doesn’t break down in water over time. In other words, once it’s in, there’s no getting it out. (via Mississippi River Basin Ag & Water Desk) bit.ly/3XtJ0Dv

@mike_feigin I think Goshen is a bit random. I would put this at either exit 116 on 17 (Bloomingburg/17K) or exit 131 (Harriman/Thruway).
