OK, MMA Twitter, this is pretty major. I decided to look into Merab Dvalishvili sambo record a bit in the run-up to his first title defence against Umar Nurmagomedov at UFC 311. Asked Taylor Weber who beat Merab at the 2024 US Nationals in Sport Sambo a couple of questions too and it looks like Merab, who made a surreal spectacle out of the UFC 311 presser lecturing everyone on "respect" and "being a man first" does not live what he preaches. At all. 👇👇👇😱 ✔️ After Taylor beat him, Merab didn’t show up to the podium and called Taylor "a sh!t fighter" after losing to him.😱 That sounds a lot like (mad) disrespect and very bad sportsmanship, which Merab told us he apparently couldn't tolerate. ✔️ And this was after he cheated in the match slapping Taylor in the face before a double leg. ✔️ Taylor would have done Combat Sambo too, but his dad who is also his coach decided to pull him from Combat because Taylor just came off an injury and he didn’t want Merab to cheat and try to injure him knowing that he was not shape to deal with it now. It increasingly looks like Merab's meltdown at the UFC 311 presser was not only baseless and cringe but also quite hypocritical.
