Pokémon GO is 10 years old! 10 years ago I graduated high school with a dream of becoming a content creator full time. Because of this game I was able to move to LA and make it happen, I’ve been blessed enough to be able to travel to places I’ve always wanted to see, I’ve made relationships with people I’ll hopefully be lucky enough to know the rest of my life. And everyday I get to wake up and continue living this dream all because of a video game. Thank you Pokémon GO and most importantly my team who have helped make MYSTIC7 happen and grow these past 10 years. Whenever you can please extend some love to @Whylde_ , Cory and Emilian who are behind the scenes pouring their soul into this game and the content we make for it. Let's talk about the Pokémon GO 10th Anniversary broadcast, specifically @MYSTIC7 as a presenter. Yes, he recently stepped in some mud with the infographic thing, which he informed me via DM was resolved privately with @g47ix. His use of AI may not be everyone's cup of tea (including my own); however, it is completely up to him how he wants to produce content, and up to the audience to consume it or not. Now let's talk objectively. Mystic7 has the largest audience in the Pokémon GO creator space (extending beyond PGO into the TCG). Speaking from my own experience this year in Chicago, his social demand in 2026 is still VERY strong. His fans love him, are loyal to him, and he is an OG when it comes to building his brand around this game for a decade. His brand is synonymous with Pokémon GO. Subjectively, the X mob that has been so up in arms about him are likely not even consumers of his content. While the mob is wrapped up in his professional issues and presumed dedication to the game, his audience is likely unaware, unbothered, and/or unaffected by any of the flames. I think that is a fundamental flaw with how the PGO community on X has operated for years. What really bums me out is how the torch and pitchforks show up on official PGO posts to sling mud and really represent the community poorly. I get it is an open forum and you are free to post whatever you want, but it is is still a bummer seeing an official post that we should all be excited about end up being littered with negativity. I'd be wasting my time if I asked the community to knock that stuff off, but it is worth calling it out as a drag on the game and community I love. I'd also be lying if I said I didn't read every single comment and find some entertainment value in them. This is X, after all. My takeaway from all of this is that there is room for creators of all types and styles to thrive in this space. It is the community's place to help guide the creators they are fans of to a direction that is more appealing, entertaining, and most importantly, fun to watch. It's also the audience's job to call them out when they get things wrong. That being said, we have seen TONS of virtue signaling here on X about various issues over the years. It bugs me when the mob mentality kicks in and people pile on about issues that don't even impact them. In this case, Pokémon GO, Scopely, and the positive community at large are taking collateral damage from the fallout. I assure you that Mystic7 will be just fine after the X mob finds something else to be mad about next week, and completely forget that this was even a thing. I am also not saying that you shouldn't be upset about things if they truly bother you. I just ask you to zoom out and remember that we love this game and all want to continue playing and living it.
