Refuse to settle for the bare minimum. Renew your mind to think like a son, and with that elevated vision yield yourself to receive and walk in the fullness of your inheritance in Christ. Hallelujah

Today, we launched the Parliamentary Forum to end Child Marriages and Teenage Pregnancies, and I was honoured to be named as a patron. During the event, I called upon parents and cultural leaders to take action to put an end to the problem of teenage marriages. This harmful practice is fueled by the dehumanizing view of girls as commodities.
I shared my personal experience of almost becoming a victim of this practice. When I was about to complete primary school, I was almost forced into a marriage. I decided to leave home, worked as a house girl in other people's homes, and managed to pay for my education.
I pointed out that poor parenting is a major factor contributing to this issue and expressed my commitment to support the forum in raising awareness and ensuring that girls have access to education.
One of the root causes of early marriages and child pregnancy is parenting, but it ultimately boils down to individuals and what they aspire to achieve in life. While circumstances may be tough, the determination to persevere is crucial.
I expressed my gratitude to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and other development partners for their support in our collective efforts to eliminate this harmful practice.

At the dinner, Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa imparted valuable advice to Hon. Phiona Nyamutoro, emphasizing the importance of listening, learning, and collaboration as she assumes her new role.
She also encouraged her to build upon the foundation laid by her predecessor and to leverage her expertise and passion to drive positive change in the mineral development sector and the ministry at large.

Today, a Master’s Degree in Gender studies will be conferred upon me. My choice of this specific qualification was largely inspired by the gender backlash and stereotypes that I suffered when I was appointed Deputy Lord Mayor, the youngest yet also unmarried.
This was one of the best career choices made. I had an opportunity to learn, unlearn and relearn.
I am a firm believer in Education, for me, this is not the end, it’s just the beginning. All I can say is that, it’s, possible to balance work, family, activism, studies and even graduate in time as long as the will is there.
I extend my gratitude to my supervisor Dr @amwiine for his tireless guidance, special thanks to my research participants, my boss and colleagues at city hall, thank you for your understanding and filling in the gap for me whenever I was held up ‘with books’. Prof @SsaliSarah, my friend @BruceKabaasa, Prof @WilliamBazeyo , Dr @davidmpiima,
Yusuf Kiranda, @BrianAtuheire etc; I am forever indebted.
Congs to fellow graduands.

This morning, Kharunda Ruth Precious, a courageous pupil from Nakasero Primary School, walked to the gate of Parliament and boldly told the security officers that she had come to meet me.
She was candid about her desire to stay in school despite the financial hardships her parents face in taking care of her five siblings.
Girls like Ruth deserve all the support they need and it is incumbent upon us to ensure they stay in school.
I got in touch with her parents, established where she lives and have made my humble contribution to ensure she stays in school and pursues her dreams.
