No one one asked for money from us, the body language made it clear that they were all business. Wow. Contrast that with the shake down that is Murtala Muhammad International Airport and you begin to wonder what in their culture makes their attitude different from Nigerians'. On the trip back out to the U.S., we paid a porter 5,000 Ugandan Shillings - about $1.50! I met a clean, uncluttered airport, with quiet people just doing their job. What a concept. And oh yes, the Ugandan embassy in Washington DC is clean, quiet and efficient, with an understated dignity. The Nigerian embassy should go visit that embassy. Kai! Oh Nigeria!
