Big news in local 6A football. Chris Smith is leaving after a good run at Bartlett to take a job in Arkansas closer to family. That’s going to be a very attractive job for someone.

Misses this apparent Good Friday news dump. But the state of Tennessee has decided to pause taking any action on transfer laws until February of 2026. Current TSSAA rules will be in place for now (one-time transfer allowed for non-athletic reasons).

The resignation follows a video that appeared on social media, showing Wagner using explicit language in a locker room conversation with players. Wagner stated, “I plan to work on myself and on becoming a better representative for my school, my family, and the kids at our great school.” Lynn Camp’s season opener is scheduled for Dec. 2 against Owsley County.

@johnvarlas If MS and Arkansas passed NIL laws and Tennessee didn’t, then elite TN athletes could go across the border to those states and leave a vacuum here in TN. Other states allow HS NIL, so you either need to keep up, or lose out. It’s a shame NIL was ever passed for HS athletes.

I've said all year that I think Bartlett has the best secondary in the state. They picked off three passes tonight with Marco Tyson, Rahmaan Rinkin and all-stater Devin Rutherford each getting one.
