This is the difference between lettering, and lettering with a designer's eye. A character is waking up after nearly drowning. The top balloon is okay. It gets the job done. But the bottom balloon really SELLS the watery lungs.

We had a college student die during the blizzard here in RI—because the power was out, he attempted to recharge his phone in his car without first clearing snow away from the exhaust pipe. Poor kid died of carbon monoxide poisoning. Please be extra careful during storms, folks.

As some of you may know, I'll be lettering
@skottieyoung and @jecorona's new LOBO series for DC. I've been coming up with some raw SFX alphabets that I think will complement Jorge's art nicely. I hand lettered 6 sheets of oil pastels on bristol, scanned and vectorized.

My latest build is finished! 2024 Fender American Professional II with all-gold hardware and Fralin hand-made pickups (Blues Specials in the neck/mid position, Pure PAF humbucker in the bridge position). 7lbs 11ozs. Special thanks to my long-time guitar techs at Noll.

@comics_jeff @blambot Isn’t that how it goes? “Work for hire” means “You make it, I own it, you get your check, and that’s it.” I’m not saying I like it, but you should fight tooth and nail for everything you can at the beginning. Assume it’s going to be a hit, then sign.
