This is Iraq veteran Sergeant Aquilino Gonell. Trump's insurrectionists beat him, maced him, and struck him with an American flagpole and fire extinguishers. His injuries required multiple surgeries. Trump pardoned his attackers and may pay them "reparations" with our taxes.

The best thing you can do for fallen soldiers on Memorial Day is to stop voting for politicians who make more of them.

@LePapillonBlu2 "Sir, I'm sorry but, per your own statements, we can no longer let you travel to your properties on the weekend as we can no longer keep you safe outside of the WH ballroom complex."

Quick question: how’s the ballroom gonna keep Donald Trump safe from further attacks? Is he gonna live in it permanently?

Pro tip: Whenever your health insurance company denies your care, call and request to speak with the HIPAA compliance director. Then, ask them to provide the names, educational backgrounds, certifications, and medical credentials of all individuals involved in the denial of your claim. You’ll be amazed at how swiftly they reverse the denial. People claim that this tactic actually works. However, I believe we should be more concerned of these health insurance companies that are amassing millions of dollars in profits while denying patients essential care. To add a bit of flair, ask for the individual’s name, rank, and serial number, followed by the question: “Are you willing to accept full responsibility for the loss or irrevocable harm caused by your denial?” It’s time we take action and fight back.

Saw Colossus: The Forbin Project (1970) last night for the first time... I'd heard that it was the story that inspired the movie Wargames, so I got curious. I was rewarded! Time well spent! - very interestingly paced thriller that... probably was a suspenseful experience in 1970, before hundreds of stories taught us to expect supercomputers gone rogue. Before the trope, this movie must have been hair-raising. Watching it now I felt a kind of calm inevitability as it unfolded - which in the end was good, because it allowed me to appreciate the ending. The ending does not resolve cleanly, and leaves you with lingering questions; not just philosophical ones, but also plot-based ones. What will Forbin do? Was Colossus right about what will happen next? We're asked to make our own guesses. - the acting was calm, good, and never in your face, which allowed you to appreciate the plot's doomful procession without distraction - the soundtrack was... really weird. Kind of tribal, Musique concrète-y, which made for an unexpected juxtaposition with the high tech plot and scenes - also the high-tech plot and scenes were late-1960s-imagined high-techy, which was satisfying. It was fun to listen to clunky Selectric-like noises and watch tape drives spinning and weird vacuum tube lighting. High tech back then was chonk. Great aesthetic. - possibly the funniest part was how they got the lead in bed with the pretty girl, but I liked how they didn't make it lurid. Somehow not at all sexy, which... was in keeping with the rest of the movie, which was cerebral. - the same cerebral quality made the final scenes, which (after an hour and a half of restrained/reserved acting) punched hard when there was a breakdown in that reserve. - random aside: I wish I knew Russian, because there were a lot of bits in Russian, and no subtitles! This movie was worth watching, especially if you're a fan of what-if scifi, or the history of the genre. I'm really glad I caught it, I'm going to be thinking about it for a while. Now I'm going to go look up the book it was based on... and wonder if Elon Musk named his data center after it. Hey, @elonmusk, will the next one be called Guardian?😅
