I don't know if I would necessarily want changes. Wide screen support no, but there are QOL improvements you could make and if you're going to be charging $20 for the game you could at least give a shit.
Separately, but related -- there's a lot more they could do with these older games. I have a 7 year old who's really into the 3d games now, so I have no delusions that 2d is the way forward (or would be more popular among their prime demo, kids), but I do think they could get really creative with the format/content that exists.

I would wager Fire Red may be the single most pirated game of all time. They want $20 USD for it, it’s not with Switch Online, there’s zero changes, no widescreen support, no new content
