Recently, the Hutchings Museum made a very concerning video, claiming that the shaggy fur of some bovids acts as armor against predators. This is of course false, with wolves and snow leopards having no issue applying throat bites to these taxa. The thick fur is for keeping warm.

@ausar_the That was a…frustrating watch, he’s operating on the assumption that Smilodon had to worry about precisely fitting its canines between a prey animals vertebrae and that only camelids make sense for their primary quarry when thats not how the killing bite would work to begin with.

Both can win, actually. While weasels have a reputation for killing rabbits, an adult rabbit can kill a weasel in an open chase with its powerful back legs. Weasels will exploit adult rabbits confined to close quarters where the latter are unable to maneuver.
