Pretty crazy to look back on the talent at the top of the 2023 Texas Baseball recruiting class. Travis Sykora is a top 35 MLB prospect Dee Kennedy, Will Gasparino, Cole Selvig all selected between the 4th-6th rounds of the 2026 MLB Draft Casey Borba will start 3/4 years at Texas. (Ignore Leffew, glitch on the PG website) Obviously Kennedy, Gasparino and Selvig transferred out of Texas, but that class brought some really prominent players to the 40.

The departure of Ashton Larson makes me think Texas is looking for more power in the portal at the spot Larson would've provided. Texas will likely look for a DH bat, or someone who can fill a similar corner outfield/1B role that Larson filled in 2026.

when i was growing up all i required as a fan was that the artist make good music. it started and stopped there. i’d wait years for a new album. stand in line to buy the CD on release day. obsess over it front to back, read the lyrics, stare at the art work, try to analyze it. i got pointed at by a band in the pit once because the singer liked my mohawk and my life was made. we gotta go back to just enjoying the ride.

A key note here. Attending the combine does not confirm anything about a player’s future. Players like Mendoza and Leffew in particular are able to go through this process and even be drafted, but still return to Texas if they do not sign with the MLB club.

For those who missed it, Georgia has used just two arms in their two CWS games, with Volchko and Aoki each pitching the entire game. Similar to Texas, they'll have a fully equipped pen. I expect them to start Dylan Vigue, a weekend starter this year, with help from Scott - Byrd
