City Opera's first Music Advisor, the great Sir Charles Mackerras, passed away 10 years ago this day. Our Artistic Director assisted him at SF Opera, and The Met: "He had the gift of tempi, and could lock in to the 'perfect' pulse without hesitation. Amazing." @OperaCanada

Today we remember Sir Charles Mackerras, who died #otd 10 years ago. RO Patron & our supporter from the very earliest days, he first conducted us in Edinburgh in 1958. He is pictured here in our 50th anniversary year in 2007, when we worked on Janáček's Taras Bulba with him.
