For decades, there has been extensive dialogue with Russia, yet each round has been followed by greater aggression rather than restraint.
It began with the war against Georgia in 2008, after which came extensive debate and engagement.
In 2014, Crimea was occupied, again followed by a great deal of talking and attempts at dialogue. In 2022, Russia launched a full-scale invasion, while continuing to issue demands toward NATO Allies and the broader European security architecture.
The pattern is clear: dialogue has not changed Russia’s aggression.
What is needed now is sustained support for Ukraine and increased pressure on Russia.
