The autopsy left no doubt, she had been brutally beaten, raped, and then strangled to death by asphyxiation. Security cameras captured the suspect, a man with a ponytail, around 1.80m tall, seen using Philippine’s bank card at an ATM. He has been identified as Taha O., a Moroccan national already convicted in 2019 for raping another French girl. He wasn’t even supposed to be in France, he had an active deportation order. He was arrested at Geneva train station while attempting to flee. He was extradited to France, where he has been charged with repeat-offense rape and murder, as well as theft, and is currently being held in pre-trial detention awaiting trial. He faces a possible life sentence.
