Federal private prisons only account for ~22% (~27,000 people, 2017) of all people housed in for profit facilities. ~94,000 people (2017) will remain in state level private prisons. If you want to see state governments follow suit, contact your local law makers ❣️

LOVE THIS. I would add that I have tried to also build time into my weekly schedule to read completely for leisure- things that are unrelated to my studies and research. I feel like this helps me to exercise the more creative parts of my brain that I often neglect.

It's really important for me to maintain a love of reading as an academic. There are some for whom this is effortless, but given social media, peak TV, and you know, life, it can be pretty common for reading-is-just-work to become the dominant narrative. A few tricks I've found:
