@drruthannharpur My first was clearly hungry at 4.5 months and gulped down purées. Second wouldn’t eat till 8 months, & only things he could hold & feed himself. These babies don’t read ANY of the books 😆

The number of people who really believe "food before one is just for fun" beggars belief How about -prevention of allergies -adequate nutrition esp iron -development of mouth and jaw muscles for eating and speech Current guidelines are based primarily in wanting not to give anything other than breastmilk for as long as possible. I secretly gave solids well before 6 months because I was aware of the evidence re allergies and iron deficiency and to be perfectly frank, I'd come to the conclusion that almost all health advice re infant feeding was nonsense so I wasn't about to comply 😂 The most annoying thing was my child's total disinterest in purées and demands to feed herself meant that my mum friends put me in the baby led weaning box. Cue explanations, "I think baby led weaning is basically bs but she won't have purées or let me feed her and she does feed herself so yes it looks like baby led weaning but I still think it's bs and I am not following anyone's stupid rules... well, except the baby's but no, it's not baby led weaning...." The fight against labels 😆
