@MagDods @allie__voss Haha I think the stereotype is that earlier European immigrants to the US were English/Irish/Scot/German who by comparison had more rounded features than later southern/central/eastern European groups, so someone with a nose like mine probably has more recent immigrant ancestry🤷🏼‍♀️

A friend was once visiting me in Germany and asked what to wear to "look European" and not come off touristy I told her that was a silly thing to care about since she was a tourist, everyone knows you're American anyways, and "looking European" isn't necessarily a good thing

Americans, if coming to Europe this summer, some suggestions of what not to wear ANY hats indoors Trainers with every outfit Cargo shorts Loud logos and graphics Ill-fitting clothes A shirt of your sports team Flip-flops everywhere Clashing colors and patterns Beach shorts

Stephen Fry warns about a “rising tide of transphobia”. He says it’s being used as “a kind of lever” to open up “all kinds of horror”. I'm guessing he doesn't think women being compelled to undress in front of men - to affirm the identities of males who say they are women - is also 'horror'?

@KatieH6290 @allie__voss Where do all the snub-nosed people come from? Russia? My nose was probably a gift from French ancestors - thank goodness I had it straightened.

@MagDods @allie__voss I guess that's a stereotype to some people? To be fair, I inherited my nose from my Polish great grandmother 😆

Yesterday was International Detransitioners Awareness Day "Had the first doctor questioned my son instead of affirming him, had teachers not hidden information from us or pushed this agenda, my son could have moved on. He could have had joyful, normal teenage years instead of five difficult years. Later, my son told me the truth: he was rebelling. Rebelling is a normal part of adolescence. It should never have been affirmed by teachers or doctors, and medicalization should never have been on the table. As a mother, I am angry about what was done to my son and to our family. And despite the growing body of evidence, the gender-affirming care insanity continues. To all detransitioners: we see you. We hear you". pittparents.com/p/dear-detrans…

How do you feel knowing that the people who make graphics like this are the same people who are ageing into managerial roles in the civil service and the NGOs looking for funding from the same civil service?

@allie__voss @BaronVanBurgum The English don't wear loden coats and man bags. People like this also look too neat and as if they've just shaved this minute!

@allie__voss I find that over the past ~15 years, the average European dresses more and more sloppily, and the stereotypes no longer hold. Your two pics below are excellent examples of this. Source: lived in Hamburg 2015-2017. Visited a few times since then.

Almost without fail, after I share my BPD recovery story, strangers slide into my DMs to inform me I'm actually autistic. They never keyboard diagnose me with anything else. But they never tell me what criteria they're using to make this determination. It's almost like they think autism is a catch-all diagnosis. Where they got that idea, I haven't the foggiest.

@Amalgamyte_VT Meanwhile, everybody is accepted. Apart from the asexuals! Why do they imagine we care? Can't they just shut up etc. They need an awareness day.

@Amalgamyte_VT What's the matter with you! Why aren't you normal? A lot of faking went on. But there was no way of finding you you were supposed to fake it. And if you did find out, what did you do? Is there a book? Can you take lessons? Impossible to get a straight answer out of anybody.

The thing is Dr House is right, asexuality isn't real. It is a hormone imbalance, extreme trauma, or some other physical issue. Every living creature in this world reproduces, being "naturally" asexual just doesn't happen, as it quite literally goes against nature
friedel✨️@im_friedel

As an asexual person I was kinda mad that house invalidated asexuality in this episode but then I realized that's exactly how being asexual around house would be. Really immersive storytelling 10/10
