Yes, annual growth rings in tropical trees🌳. But, wait! isn't it due to dry seasons? No, it is because of high soil moisture and light limitation by cloudiness in the rainest tropical forests in the world (>12,000 mm/yr)! Great piece by @jagiral1 et al.

Do you know when trees start to #transpire in the spring and when they stop in the fall? 🤔We offer a new approach to answer it! The method provides 4 phenological transition phases😃 + shows that🌲🌲start to transpire during snowmelt + transpiration onset aligns with C02 uptake
