Australia has secured 20 per cent of the urea it needs for the current farming season, but some experts say it's time to rethink our food production system. sbs.com.au/news/article/a…

Andrew Bragg gets brutally ‘fact-checked’ after claiming the Coalition wants to unwind the govt’s new environmental laws, bcoz they’ve “already failed.” PK: “The laws haven’t even started” “I’ll fact-check you at least on that.”💥🙄 #auspol

She’s an icon, she’s a legend, she is the moment. Queensland Labor's Meaghan Scanlon really got to Jarrod Bleijie in March over the speech criminalisation bill. He's baring his teeth, showing his fists & ranting aggressively. She's like, nup. #qldpol youtu.be/tBIkcQPWuCg

Spotlight dedicated more than an hour on a report into supply chains feeding into the renewables and EV industries. Liam Bartlett proclaimed: “Every battery, every electric vehicle, every piece of so-called clean energy technology today” uses cobalt. WRONG. #auspol

In recent weeks we have seen a lot of bluster up here from the QLD LNP government with regard to their “announcement” on the Taroom Trough oil and gas development. Much propaganda, fanfare and Cris-the-fooli wandering around in a hard hat have been circulating via media, news, social media and streaming services to let us all know how the QLD LNP are going to “save Australia” with a once in a generation opportunity. 🙄 If this were the golden goose - the generational opportunity - it would’ve been sucked out of the ground a generation or more ago by an opportunistic fossil fuel industry via the sitting government at the time. As I, and many others, have pointed out previously, this would be a fracking operation - and the amount of water that would be required for the operation would be enormous. Water would likely need to be extracted from The Great Artesian Basin which would create considerable conflict with the agricultural sector. Not to mention potential contamination of those water sources and the impact on agriculture. Along with the strain on water supplies and the contamination - there is the cost. Individual wells would cost upwards of $15 million. The LNP government is “proposing” a scale of around 1000 wells. This is even before the costs of surrounding infrastructure and storage is factored in, because right now the meagre fracking exploration occurring has accompanying infrastructure at its limit. Who pays for that? Have the QLD LNP also considered the damage that fracking would cause to geological structures? Timescale has been quoted at a minimum of 5 to 10 years. In all likelihood potential delivery would be long after the world has accelerated towards a renewable energy future and the need for fossil fuel energy will have declined - except for QLD under the LNP - who want to take us all back to the 1950s. Now the federal Labor government via Murray Watt are calling the QLD LNP out. Cristafulli has repeatedly foghorned that the federal government are standing in the way of the QLD “venture” and that he has written to the federal government with a proposal for the government to consider. Cristafulli has done no such thing. No request, no proposal, no application. Not even a phone call. Now Murray Watt has written to Crisafulli, asking for clarification and information. The federal government would be willing to consider a request from QLD with regard to fuel security - if the proposal stacks up. Why would Crisafulli say he has approached the federal government with regard to this “generational opportunity” when he hasn’t? In all likelihood to manifest the propaganda that the QLD government is actively doing something about oil security during an oil crisis- and the federal government is not. The QLD government is losing popularity. They are grasping at straws with blowhard announcements without much substance to back them up. If their golden goose is as tangible as they are claiming - they would be getting on with the job and presenting their research, analysis, results and viability for exploration to the federal government. Meanwhile, the federal government are getting on with the job of ensuring that we will have enough fuel in reserve, while also ensuring that we are moving towards a more viable alternative - a renewable energy economy that is not beholden to the fossil fuel industry.

Andrew Leigh is excellent, sets the record straight #NDIS #afternoonbriefing When Labor came to office it was growing at 22% annually. Labor has reduced this to 10%. It’s inexplicable how the Coalition earnt the ‘better economic managers’ epithet. Oh I know, Murdoch😵‍💫 #Auspol

The honeymoon is over. A party with no plan during a fuel crisis, with a blind devotion to the man driving it: Trump. And with a leader believing convicted rapists deserve a "second chance" in her office. The One Nation bubble hasn't just leaked—it’s burst. #auspol

6.2M workers will benefit from Labor's $1,000 instant tax deduction, with a maximum saving of $470, and an average saving of $205. This is all about helping workers cut back on the paperwork and saving them time and money at tax time.
