My March reading has been Hisham Matar's The Return: a heartrending painful account of loss, grief, hope and persistence. A narration of how politics has such deep impact on individuals.

@WeziMunkhondya I can relate. From my masters I also took up internship mainly as a way to switch fields. I had also been working for 6 years before that. But it was all worthwhile, because it was a spring board in my career.

Here to encourage someone. When I finished my masters in the UK, I travelled back to Malawi full of hope that I’m getting a managerial job the moment I land. That I’ll be the hot cake everyone is looking for haha. Got in Malawi and immediately started applying for jobs. Four months later, I got a job and guess what my first job was after I got in Malawi? I got a job as an Intern. And by the way, by this time, I had already over 5 years of working experience and had risen in ranks in my previous jobs prior to doing my masters. Actually I didn’t apply for this job. The organization went to the university where I did my undergrad and requested names of students because they had job openings. My name was among the names and I was called for interviews. I thought to myself, should I stay home and deny the internship offer because I have a Masters and have been working for over 5 years? I told myself, nothing wrong with starting over. Then I started over. I don’t regret this decision because I learnt some things at the internship position that I still find valuable. If you are at a certain point that needs starting over, I’m here to tell you that it is OK to start over. It may not feel great but it will be worth it. A nice weekend to you and yours.
