Magnetite Mines is pleased to announce the continued progress of the Port Pirie Iron Ore Export Concept in collaboration with Green Iron SA, a pioneering consortium comprised of Magnetite Mines, Aurizon Holdings, Flinders Port Holdings, GHD, and CSL Australia. The consortium’s project begins with fast-tracking the development of the Razorback Iron Ore Project, creating a secure supply of high-purity magnetite, a feedstock critical to the production of green iron. The project will then progress to the production of direct reduction (DR) grade pellets and ultimately pave the way for the manufacturing and export of direct reduced iron (DRI) in the form of Hot Briquetted Iron (HBI) from the established industrial city of Port Pirie. Key Highlights: Port Pirie Export Pathway Clarified: A high-level engineering assessment of Port Pirie's existing infrastructure and logistics options by Green Iron SA has outlined a potential iron ore export configuration from train arrival through to ship loading at Flinders Ports’ Berth 7. Leverages Existing Infrastructure: The concept intentionally makes the best use of existing industrial land, port precinct infrastructure, and transport corridors, consistent with the consortium’s objective of enabling iron ore concentrate export as a precursor to downstream pellet and/or green iron production. Designed to Limit Community Impacts: The proposed configuration prioritises measures to reduce dust and noise impacts and to minimize vehicle-rail interface impacts, including transport corridor selection, covered storage, and a sealed conveyor system. Consortium Alignment: All Green Iron SA consortium members support the continued advancement of the Port Pirie export concept, subject to further technical and economic modelling, approvals, and stakeholder engagement. Following yesterday’s announcement that Major Project Status was awarded for the Razorback Iron Ore Project, Magnetite Mines confirms that the statutory public engagement phase for its Mining Lease Proposal (MLP) has now commenced. As part of an accredited process, the MLP includes Australian Government permitting requirements under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. The South Australian Department for Energy and Mining has now called for written submissions from stakeholders, community members and other interested parties. Submissions can be lodged with DEM until 23 April 2026. Magnetite Mines is pleased to confirm that all necessary approvals have been secured for drilling at our 100%-owned Ironback Hill Rare Earth Element (REE) Project in South Australia - an important step forward in advancing this emerging prospect. - Drilling contractors have been engaged, with drilling scheduled to commence in the coming week. - Up to 2,000m of aircore drilling is planned to test the extent and controls of previously announced clay-hosted REE mineralisation detected in historical iron ore drilling samples. - The field program is expected to take approximately 10 days, with assay results anticipated within 6–8 weeks (subject to laboratory timing).
