@FarzadXBT Zcash for many reasons. Better access to funding. Better tech. Better anonymity. Better backers. Better community. More flexibility. Better access through CEX/DEX. No reason to buy Monero other than a swing trade.

@mert Much cheaper and more efficient to buy votes from elected officials. Average senate or house vote is around $5000. Normally need to buy 10-20 votes to swing a bill. Its cheaper to lobby/buy policy then it is to run a small marketing campaign, let alone manage a state.

random thought why don't some trillion dollar companies like google/apple start their own nation states? they already have more GDP than most countries, buy land, negotiate diplomacy, set up a no-tax zone for people to start new startups that contribute to the company etc

I disagree with the investment thesis spouted by most Zcash supporters. You often hear things like 1. Privacy is the last 1000x 2. Zcash is Bitcoin but private 3. Zcash is insurance against Bitcoin (in other words, zcash succeeds only if Bitcoin fails) 4. Oh and the worst one by the winklevoss twins- Bitcoin is how you store your value and zcash is how you spend your value (if you dig into this, what they're essentially saying is, the only use case of zcash is to sell ZEC via near intents and pay with USDC. I repeat, they're telling you to sell your ZEC) 3 & 4 are obviously terrible but 1 & 2 are essentially saying invest in zcash because privacy is good. The reality is that the percentage of population that actually cares about privacy is in single digits (I'm part of that minority btw). The majority give away their privacy if it means progress (eg - usage of Google, chat GPT, tik tok, meta products). Unfortunately, this majority does not understand that privacy is the toolkit of both progress and freedom. The best zcash investment case I've seen is the often said by @arjunkhemani, where he calls zcash as the machinery of freedom - Really good read - x.com/arjunkhemani/s… But this still lacks the final pull needed to bring in the masses. In other words it still doesn't answer the real investment case of ZEC. I hope to fix that. So here's my thesis- -------------------------------- Zcash: The machinery of freedom & store of wealth - cash is state controlled, constantly loses value and is inflationary - gold has huge logistics challenges, is bulky, and is probably infinite in supply in this vast universe. Intelligent beings already have access to entire planets made of gold and have probably underwritten the value of gold to zero. -bitcoin has no privacy, lacks quantum resistance, is not fungible (See here for fungibility - x.com/0xMert_/status…) Zcash fixes this: 1. If humanity ever meets hyper intelligent beings, these beings wouldn't exchange with us using US dollars (state controlled), or gold (abundant), or Bitcoin (pessimistic, transparate, fungible, not quantum resistant). These beings would exchange with us using real freedom money. Zcash is the machinery of freedom and ZEC is freedom money 2. Zcash is a store of wealth Zcash's unique feature to be able to shield its canonical asset has far reaching consequences that just privacy. Shielding enabled the creation of a wealth storage vault protected by alien technology (zk). In other words, The comp for a store or value like Bitcoin (digital gold) is physical Gold (~$30 trillion) The comp for a store of wealth like Zcash (personal encrypted wealth storage vault) is the total wealth in all vaults, lockboxes, reserves, treasuries, materials of personal sentiment, inherited property, promises of paybacks, all brokerage accounts/exchange depositories (~$850 trillion) Zcash is the only asset on earth that's quantum resistant, world war resistant, fungible, encrypted, has a built in encrypted wealth storage vault and has ties to the original cypherpunk group including satoshi.
