Great exchange with Michael Schmid, President @Eurojust. Strong cooperation between Eurojust & Europol is one of the key elements in view of the upcoming revision of both mandates. Eurojust has a key role to play in enabling the judiciary to keep pace with modern organised crime.

The latest figures confirm that the EU is more effective in protecting our external borders, with better controls and fewer illegal border crossings, there are fewer people who have no right to stay and to be returned. The recent introduction of the EES is another crucial step.

Today’s fourth trilogue on the CSA Regulation brought good progress toward finding a long-term solution to the horrific crime of child sexual abuse. We urge the Council and the Parliament to move forward swiftly and welcome that the next trilogue will still take place in June.

Concluded two days of meetings in New York, for the UN #IMRF2026. Thank you Amy Pope @IOMchief for the excellent organisation and our fruitful discussions.

@NCMEC The current legal gap in EU legislation risks leading to a decrease in reports. Meaning less protection for children. It is urgent to agree on EU rules to ensure effective and lasting protection for children.

My visit to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (@NCMEC) in Washington was an opportunity to thank them for our cooperation and pledge to do more in our common efforts to protect children.

Europe accounts for the highest volume of child sexual abuse material globally. We heavily rely on reports from the US - nearly 950,000 were shared with us in 2025 alone. They enable law enforcement in the EU to rescue children and hold perpetrators accountable.

At the policy debate with @IOMchief, we discussed the need to manage migration on a route-based approach.Effective migration management means ensuring that every country along the route takes responsibility for fighting migrant smuggling and providing protection to those in need.
