His name was Ashok Kumar. He lived in Delhi’s Jagatpura with his wife and four kids. His mother stayed back in their village in Amroha, with his elder brother Subhash, who couldn’t work because of chronic illness. So one man was holding up a family of eight. Ashok spent his mornings as a DTC bus conductor, and his nights as a security guard. Day after day, without complaint, because that’s what responsibility looks like in the real world. Last night, Ashok was killed in the Red Fort terror attack. On paper, he will be marked as “one casualty.” In reality, an entire family has been pushed into darkness. What do they think they gain by killing people like him? People who are simply fighting to keep their families afloat. And the most bitter part, those behind this terror attack were doctors. People who are trained to relieve pain. To understand suffering. To protect life. Yet they allowed themselves to be indoctrinated and turned into terrorists.
