Politics in Assam is hitting a new low,a and it should outrage every thinking citizen. Dragging a 27 year old girl, Kunki Choudhury, into vile debates over what her parents, Sujata Gurung Chowdhury and Dudul da, allegedly eat is not politics. It's a shameful display of fear and desperation. If Himanta Biswa Sarma truly believes Bijoy Gupta is a strong candidate, then why stoop to targeting a young girl's family and identity? The answer is clear: because this isn't strength. This is the fear of being challenged. This is not leadership. This is calculated polarisation designed to divide people along lines that have nothing to do with governance or vision. It's the refuge of those running out of real arguments. Assam's politics cannot be reduced to hate and personal attacks. Real leadership means you debate ideas. You debate your vision for the state. You debate real issues that matter to people's lives—jobs, education, healthcare, infrastructure. You don't drag families into the mud because you're afraid of losing ground. What we're seeing from Himanta Biswa Sarma is the opposite of strength. It's a sign of weakness. Stop dividing Assam along these manufactured lines. Stop this dirty politics. The people of this state deserve better.
