@svembu I feel India is falling into the same trap. the infra spend should commensurate with the GDP size. Is building a 5 star train station a good spend ? That $1B could be spent elsewhere to create real value..

China is addicted to investment, at the cost of consumption. They are constrained to "export at all costs" and that effectively forces other nations to import in excess. The only way this system has "balanced" itself is by endlessly increasing debt (and therefore money, because money itself is someone else's debt in our money-backed-with-nothing pure fiat system). In a saner monetary system, importing nations would have literally "run out of money(gold)" so they could not keep importing. Can this fundamentally flawed system go on another 25 years? I am very doubtful but then again I thought the global financial crisis already signaled the end of the system.

@narendramodi Time to produce scientists , in addition to engineers. We need nobek laureates with research in basic sciences and mathematics . We can't just be happy with worlds factory producing engineers

As India, the world's largest democracy goes to polls , the numbers are mind boggling. Every voter will have access to polling booth within 2km. $10-$15B would be spent. 15M staff to conduct the polls. 950M eligible voters with 70% expected voter turnout. It's a proud moment.
