What annoys me in Octopath is that H'aanit doesn't speak like this in the japanese script. She speaks informally, but none of this old english bullshit. Localizers are so annoying

@MaindreTheFloop I didn't get to finish the game but I ironically think his plotline was one of the better ones. When you finally meet his traitorous friend and they stand side by side for a moment before you get the option to challenge him felt like such an awesome moment

yes, an AI could make a painting that is exactly like bob ross. no, it’s not the same, because bob ross didn’t paint it. correct. however this was also the defense against “my kid could paint that” accusations against modern art. congratulations. you are modern now. its okay.

the people who thought “defending art” meant throwing away the modern idea that the artist, their story, the story behind the art, and the art’s place in history all matter as much as what the end result looks like are now going to embrace these principles as an anti-AI stance.

@MaindreTheFloop I feel like Olberic isn't too good in english, too. He sounds like he's posturing too hard as a knight and his voice comes off monotone and without any other emotion regardless of what's happening. He's also serious in japanese, but it gives off a way better impression

@aureo9850 I played though in English and while I can’t compare it to thr Japanese, it was decent enough.
Except Haanit, who came across as very dry with the KJ English trying to make her quirky.

@MaindreTheFloop And it's not JUST that it's that terrible and wrong. It's that it literally doesn't make any sense for her since she is a huntress. She wouldn't speak old english, she's not a knight. She'd at MOST speak very colloquially. But neither of those are needed

you're missing the painting--which exists, not in a cartoon-like two dimensions, but in a very subtly rendered three dimensions which, obviously, you've never seen. ask yourself why you are so hostile to an entire art movement much revered by so many, yet dare to call yourself not a hearty unapologetic philistine --one of a very large tribe--but one who aspires to something called "culture."
