The reported suicide of Aman Kumar Sharma, a young judicial officer in Delhi, is not just a personal tragedy—it is a sobering reflection of the silent crises that often unfold behind closed doors in marital homes. That someone trained in law, entrusted with dispensing justice, could feel so cornered and distressed that he saw no way out should compel us to pause and reflect, not just empathise and move on. The facts, as reported, point toward prolonged marital discord, compounded by alleged interference from extended family. This is not an unfamiliar pattern. As a practising advocate, I have repeatedly seen how disputes between spouses—often manageable in their early stages—spiral into irretrievable breakdowns once external influences begin to dominate the relationship. What could have been resolved through communication becomes a battleground of egos, expectations, and familial pressures. We must acknowledge a reality that is often uncomfortable to articulate: the current legal and social framework surrounding marriage in India is heavily tilted toward one-sided narratives. While the protection of women against genuine abuse remains absolutely essential, there is an equally pressing need to recognise that men, too, can be vulnerable within marriages. Emotional distress, psychological pressure, and social stigma often leave men with little institutional support or safe avenues for redress. This tragic incident underscores the urgent need for reform in marital laws—laws that are balanced, gender-neutral in application, and sensitive to the mental well-being of both parties. Safeguards must exist not only to prevent abuse but also to prevent misuse, and to ensure that no individual feels legally or socially trapped. Equally important is a cultural shift. Marriage today is not what it was in the 1960s–80s. The dynamics have evolved, expectations have changed, and autonomy has become central to modern relationships. It is time families recognise this. Constant interference—whether from the husband’s side or the wife’s—often does more harm than good. Couples must be allowed the space to navigate their own journey, make their own mistakes, and build their own understanding without being pulled in multiple directions. The loss of a life is irreversible. But if this incident is to mean anything beyond grief, it should serve as a catalyst—for introspection, for legal reform, and for a societal shift that prioritises mental health, mutual respect, and autonomy within marriages. Because ultimately, no dispute—legal, emotional, or familial—should ever reach a point where life itself feels expendable.

MoS @RavneetBittu says it's raining even though God is expressing anger. The opposition MPs are scared of losing their seats so, they voted against the women's reservation bill. Further, Bittu says opposition MPs will not get food today.

After this, many MPs across parties who spoke in favour of Bill, cautioned against the misuse of #UAPA citing examples of misuse of TADA, POTA and even AFSPA. These included the following MPs: 1. Basudeb Acharia – CPI(M) 2. Mohan Singh – SP 3. Devendra Prasad Yadav – RJD 4. Gurudas Dasgupta – CPI 5. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa – SAD 6. Sarbanand Sonowal – Asom Gana Parishad 7. Ram Kripal Yadav - RJD 8. Pralhad Joshi – BJP 9. Dr. Thockchom Meinya 10. Asaduddin Owaisi - AIMIM There were also many MPs who categorically said that simply bringing stringent laws is not going to prevent terror attacks. They demanded modernisation of police forces and intelligence agencies for timely and more actionable intelligence. Excerpts of some of their speeches are in screenshots 👇

So with the latest encounter of Madvi Hidma, we can relate it with the encounter of GS Manochahal ! In which both of the killings can be considered as the final nail in the coffin of their respective movements !

Just finish your drafts, read your judgments, make your notes, and try to help your peers, juniors & people who genuinely need it. Stop theorizing. You knew what you were getting into. No point keep harping about what privilege other enjoy. It won't increase urs or reduce theirs.
Shaileshwar Yadav@Shaileshwar21

The term "First-Generation Lawyer" needs a serious rethink. It's often used as a catch-all for anyone who's the first in their family to enter the legal profession. But this blanket term is dangerously misleading and mostly appropriated. (1/n)

🌸 #RampurKhera #Hoshiarpur #BabaSewaSinghJi #RaviinderSinghJi #SinghSahibGianiHarpreetSingh #GianiHarpreetSingh #JathedarHarpreetSingh
