@DaSluggySlug @fortmaxhypeguy If you want to know exactly what the picture looks like, I can send it to you in a private message. Honestly, I didn't think people would get into a fight over this. It makes me sad.
English

@DaSluggySlug @fortmaxhypeguy As a matter of fact, that's exactly what I did. I gave Starscream the design of the Viking pattern on the head sculpture in accordance with the information I had found, and they were labeled with red lines that were more complex than the Loon symbols I had drawn.
English

@DaSluggySlug @fortmaxhypeguy This is horrifying, especially seeing that the symbol actually continues to be used by nazis. And I had originally envisioned it appearing elsewhere
English

@Makatern1 @fortmaxhypeguy Well, we try to avoid a few, like the swastika, sun cross and the sun wheel. The Odal rune is slowly becoming accepted again, and I even have a beautiful handmade pendant of it by a blacksmith. But it was also recently used by fascist members of the Republican party in the US...
English

@DaSluggySlug Yes, that's the symbol. I designed other combinations of Lune runes on the painting as well, because I didn't find any ready-made combinations that I could use.
English

@Makatern1 Also, I don't remember the art piece in question, but was it this symbol? en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Sun…
Because I can see why people react negatively, but as it says in the "Other uses" section, it needs to be seen in context, like all symbols if you ask me.
English

@DaSluggySlug @fortmaxhypeguy Are all these symbols unavailable now? I see some familiar Loon runes that the Chinese witches would have used. It's also so inappropriate that it would be a huge loss if the nazi caused these symbols to be unusable.
English

@Makatern1 @fortmaxhypeguy It's a shame really 😓
Here is a list of some, although it is in Norwegian maybe you can translate it with an app like Google Translate.
You can also see two different versions of the swastika. The second last symbol was common in my country from ancient times.

English

@DaSluggySlug There is no justice in bullying someone weaker than themselves, it just makes them look pathetic. Helping others is what makes you truly strong. Also I agree that education is very important to at least show people what is wrong to do.
English

@Makatern1 I agree, but often those who turn to Nazism/fascism are those who feel wronged by something, or are very insecure, and let their anger out on those weaker than them. It's important to find these people before the extremists do. Education is also very important.
English

@DaSluggySlug Yes, and they are making people more and more extreme just by their mere existence.
English

@Makatern1 I hope so. Such hateful ideologies only benefit the few and harms already vulnerable minorities.
English

@DaSluggySlug This is ridiculous, nazi should not be tied to the traditions of the nation, the nationalists who try to tarnish the traditions are crazy.
English

@Makatern1 Thank you for your sympathy ❤️
I know many Viking reenactment groups often have to kick out members who turn out to be Nazi sympathizers. They have a zero tolerance policy for such hateful views, which is good.
English

@DaSluggySlug @fortmaxhypeguy I've found many beautiful runes while looking up information, it's too bad they're unusable because of nazi.
English

@Makatern1 @fortmaxhypeguy It's really tragic. I try to educate people when I see them show misguided outrage over a swastika which has nothing to do with the Nazi. The symbol was often connected to electricity and water power here in Europe before WW2 and many buildings has it as decoration due to it.
English

@DaSluggySlug I'm not quite sure if there are still organized nazi elements in China, the government cracks down on such organizations very hard, including cults. Any cults I know of that are associated with China proper are only known through Twitter.
English

@Makatern1 I think that is probably because any fascists in China most likely uses other symbols, if any at all. The Nazi are a very western take on it and is therefore very connected to the west.
English

@DaSluggySlug @fortmaxhypeguy Sorry to know about this, I came across a lot of beautiful Scandinavian runes when I was looking for information, also some of the traditional cardinal characters from the Slavic region. Sad to hear that they were forced to disappear due to nazi appropriation.
English

@Makatern1 @fortmaxhypeguy This is a thing that is very frustrating for us Scandinavians. The Nazi took many Viking runes and turned them into symbols of hate which are still used today by extremists. We are trying to reclaim them, but like with the swastika most people only know one meaning and I don't/1
English

@DaSluggySlug I won't judge any other group, but speaking as a citizen of a socialist country, that's how capitalism divides their citizens to the point of not being able to attack the real enemy.
English

@Makatern1 In some countries they are doing so, but sadly some very powerful fascists has a lot of money and uses it to manipulate others. For example what is happening in the US right now. And it's a lot thanks to who owns Twitter right now...
English

@DaSluggySlug @fortmaxhypeguy My goodness, this is the first time I've ever known this to happen. The Buddhist mantras have been in use for thousands of years, and nazi has been using them for only a few decades, and from unrelated sources.
English

@Makatern1 @fortmaxhypeguy understand that a symbol used to have more than one meaning, and in many cases still has the original meaning, like the swastika still being used in large portions of Asia. Google Maps had to change the symbol of Buddhist temples from a swastika to the Dharmachakra in Japan /2
English

@DaSluggySlug There are almost no worshippers of nazi symbol in China, so I didn't get any accusations when I posted it on domestic platform, where accusing someone of being a fascist because of a painting is almost absurd.
English

@Makatern1 There is sadly😔 Their views are hateful and extreme and it's often impossible to reason with them. And often they don't realise that others benefit from their rage, making everything worse for everyone.
English

@DaSluggySlug Thank you, in fact this is the first time I've realized that there are so many fascists alive outside of China, I thought they were all almost extinct, but according to some US friends there are still a lot of white supremacists running rampant in capitalist countries
English

@Makatern1 People on the internet often lack the concept of nuance and only see things in black and white or extremes. It's tiresome to navigate around these people because they are so ignorant. Blocking them helps.
You have the right to draw what you want and you are definitely not a nazi.
English

@fortmaxhypeguy That's what I'm thinking, why is drawing a symbol preaching fascism when it was meant to be just an ancient rune? X's definition of fascism is more like a cult than a ideology I envisioned, with nazi magic I can't yet understand brainwashing those who see it with nazi ideology
English

@Makatern1 Sadly nazis have changed the original meanings of many symbols, they aren’t very original… I still think people should start asking an artist the context of any symbols in their art instead of jumping straight to a conclusion like that. Context matters
