We’re kicking off Season 3 of The Regeneration Will Be Funded with guest Josh Whiton @joshwhiton, founder of MakeSoil @MakeSoil, an open software platform designed to connect your food scraps with soil makers. Josh also writes about artificial intelligence and recently published “The AI Mirror Test”, an experiment to gauge a machine’s self awareness. Tune into this fascinating conversation with Josh about soil, AI, and the pursuit of regenerative technologies. Watch: youtu.be/5xQLJzM-K9k

@DanBohling1 @CNBC All those trucks are a real concern. Which is where we come in: we match neighbors all over the world to compost on a small scale together in their backyards. It doesn't need to get trucked far away, and can go right into the local garden. Check out makesoil.org.

@CNBC So how many trucks are required to move tons of compost materials from urban centers to arable farmland? Especially in urban centers where arable farmland is not adjacent? More feel good climate change busywork, creating half baked solutions to problems that don’t exist

@Melondacat1 @CNBC That can be true, but we've got a different approach: we match neighbors to compost on a small scale together in their backyards. We've matched thousands of households already. It doesn't need to get trucked far away, and it doesn't need to smell. makesoil.org.

@CNBC Large scale composting is only efficient at a town and county level. It needs a good plot of land away from houses (it smells) and a willing taker of the composted material. This compost your own stuff is nothing but a little hobby. It does make your little garden grow better.

@SallyNex It's so unnecessary, especially when most food and yard scraps are headed to landfill.

I don't usually name & shame but this appals me. This is Auchencloss Moss, Midlothian - once a carbon-absorbing #peat bog, now being stripped for use in potting compost for gardeners. William Sinclair trades as Westland. Licence to extract runs till 2042. #notinmyname #gopeatfree

#Soil is often viewed as nothing more than a medium for holding plants. But it is so much more than that. Healthy soils provide nutritious food, support human health and keep our planet's precious ecosystems and climate in balance.
