Audio has been released for the Gyokeres penalty at Newcastle. Darren England’s made his mind up very early, and does everything he can to convince Jarred Gillet to re-referee the game via the screen. Not to mention a complete misapplication of the laws. This is a blunder.

So Gillet applies precedent while England applies whatever his own interpretation of the law is and bends Gillet towards that. Complete misapplication of what we’re told the VAR official is supposed to do, yet another example of the inconsistent crap process that exists at PGMOL

It is very important that the audio for this incident is released.
VAR is not there to re-referee games nor is it there to interfere unless there has been a clear and obvious error.
If the VAR has to “guide” or “really explain” to the referee what he’s seeing or not seeing…

So according to Webb it’s ‘good use of VAR’ because Pope got a touch on the ball but when Saliba got a good head on the ball before catching Joao Pedro he said ‘"That touch on the ball doesn't negate the possible award of a penalty’. It can’t be both. What a farce.
