Darby Allin passing out in the middle of his AEW World Championship defense against Sammy Guevara because the constant title defenses are finally taking a toll on his body? This is the kind of storytelling that has kept me a wrestling fan for nearly three decades. When Darby said he was going to “ride this until the wheels fall off,” he meant it. Burn the brightest, but burn out the fastest. Every single night is another title defense, and he’s willing to wrestle until his body gives out or his heart stops. That’s compelling television, and honestly, it’s some of the best storytelling AEW has done in a long time. It also perfectly sets the stage for how MJF could realistically win the title back at Double or Nothing next Sunday. Just an all-around really well-booked run.
