Il y a quelques mois, alors que j’étais invité à déjeuner chez Rudy Gobert à Minneapolis, j’ai pensé naïvement me retrouver seul en face à face avec lui.
En réalité, nous étions près d’une dizaine à table avec son fils, ses deux assistants personnels, son préparateur physique, son chef cuisinier, etc…
J’ai découvert que l’intérieur français investit en fait des centaines de milliers de dollars chaque année au service de sa performance, avec une équipe de collaborateurs dédiée qui l’aide à rester au meilleur niveau, malgré ses 33 ans.
Je lui ai proposé de me présenter ces protagonistes un par un. Le résultat est à lire dans le journal @lequipe du jour, et en ligne grâce au lien en commentaire.

I don’t dislike Wemby! And if the Spurs get there, I’ll be rooting for him in the WCF.
But the way the media has framed what was objectively the worst moment of his brief & brilliant career & a stunning moment for any superstar (ejected from a playoff game!), has been galling.

This whole narrative of “Wemby’s revenge” is so pathetic and forced. HE was the aggressor. HE tried to hurt Naz.
If Gobert or like Jokic did what he did it would be an ENTIRELY different story. Disgusting how the NBA treats certain players differently.

it wasn’t even that. he had multiple opportunities postgame to admit he screwed up and instead he told the sideline reporter he couldn’t hear the question and then at the podium just said he moved on (which is fine! but it wasn’t redemption OR atonement)

The best way to frame Wemby's return last night was atonement, not the wronged hero. Wemby was in the wrong. (Again, I didn't think he should be suspended). HE was the one who messed up. And HE had to atone for HIS mistake. He did that in a major way.

Pretty crazy how much one playoff series can shift perception and narratives of a single player. Wemby appeared to be liked by the majority of NBA fans (myself included) before this series, and he hasn't done himself many favors.
Between the blocks in Game 1, ejection, flopping and officiating in general, he has just been annoying to watch.
