@edgaralandough "A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger." Proverbs 15:1
(I don't hit the mark every time, but this scripture is never far from my thoughts.)

@educator4ever36 I am absolutely blessed with two different collabs. We work seamlessly and we truly have an absolute blast working together. Rare for sure.

How many of you have co-teachers that do little more than sit in the back of the room?

@educator4ever36 I have the same percentages. I have a coteacher, the SPED teacher, but they have no experience in SPED or learning challenges, or in our content... they just write IEPs in the back of the room and sometimes manages behaviors. It isn't a good system.

@educator4ever36 They start exams next Friday. The following week is crazy with Election Day and a week long community festival. The week after has all the grad celebrations and festivities. It goes by so fast 😭

@Ravenismeee My grandmother's name was Mildred, affectionately called "Milly." She was my favorite human being. I sure miss her.

@HowlandKate @jlpoober I won't give a second thought this summer while I leisurely nap, work in my garden, and sit oceanfront sipping iced tea.
English

@Mama__Davis @jlpoober Yeah no thanks, i dont care about summers off. I’d rather work hard and be happy than be a chronic complainer

Everyone loves to remind teachers about summer.
Fine. Let's do the math.
This week I worked nearly 60 hours.
6:30 arrival. Unpaid lunch with kids in my room. Covered PE — I teach Spanish. Graded vocab tests Friday night. Graded a children's book project on Saturday. Turned one into a movie and posted it for the class. Five hours of lesson planning today.
The standard work week is 40 hours. The extra 20? Unpaid.
Some weeks, the grading is lighter. Some weeks it's worse. This is not the worst week I've had.
But yes. I get summers off.

English

@jlpoober @JayAbraham88 What we do falls on deaf ears. It's like cleaning house. No one ever notices unless it's not done.
There are lots of positions open for the ones who complain we have "summers off." You know the drill, we CHOSE this job 😉

Of course I didn't need to make the video! That is one of the many extra NICE things that I do for my students.
As for showing up at 6:30...if I don't, I won't have materials ready when the kids show up at 7.
As for grading on the weekends...if I don't, they won't ever get graded.
I am completely organized. The problem is that I am with students ALL day. I could sit at my desk, grade, and put on a movie for my students to watch. But how is that good teaching? You'd be angry that your child watched a movie in school.
Projects are an excellent way for students to show me what they learned. I don't do many because they do require extensive grading.
We literally can't win.
English

@jlpoober You do get summers off. Teachers are the only profession with this benefit

We all learn from experience.
We all are human.
What might we all learn from our experiential existence?

@MiniRetireMatt First-where are teachers making THAT kind of money?
Second-are they hiring?
Thirdly-the "3" months of "PTO" is unpaid. We can spread our paycheck over 12 months instead of 9.
Tell me you know nothing about the education system without telling me you know nothing about it.

@francophilll @OldWorldBlues52 @realMaalouf Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, & with all your mind. This is the FIRST & great commandment. And the SECOND is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
