Here is the final "press conference" of the pre-trial process for accused murderer #KarenRead, as to the lonesome death of #JohnOKeefe. After months of agony for John's family and friends, it is finally time for trial at 10AM on Monday. I asked Read about the ruling that her blood-alcohol evidence is coming in at trial. Read is accused of being drunk, on 9 shots of liquor, when she backed up her car into John, on the morning of 1/29/22, and left him for dead in the snow. The state will also be allowed to introduce evidence that Read was cheating on John, that John told Karen he was leaving her as a result just days before his death, and that Karen refused to leave John's home. Read will not be arguing a third-party culprit theory during opening, and may not even be able to make the defense at all during trial pending a further ruling from the court. Read also cannot mention any federal probe during the trial. It's clear Read is in deep, deep trouble here (and almost everyone around her knows it). Later (off camera) I asked Read's dad --former Bentley Dean William Read- if he knows Josh Levy. He said "I do not." I said I don't believe him. The state need only prove Read backed up into John, in a manner that was reckless, in order to meet their burden under a malice theory of second degree murder. Read is also charged with laving the scene of an accident causing death and OUI manslaughter. Also, I was allowed to ask my questions to read today. Here is a clip from today's press conference, where I asked Tim Bradl --the attorney for formerly-jailed #TurtleBoy blogger Aidan Kearney-- if knew knew Special State Prosecutor Ken Mello was hospitalized over recent months before arguing in court on Tuesday that Mello was lying about his health. Bradly refused to answer and, instead, insulted me. I, in turn, told him what I think of him as a person. Then, TurtleBoy laughed about Ken Mello's illness. I want to be very clear about something; everyone, and I do mean everyone, goes through health issues. Sometimes those health issues are ongoing, sometimes they are short term but very painful. One of the TurtleBoy fans, who I have really come to respect, let me know that Mr. Mello has injured himself quiet seriously (while he was sick with 3 other conditions) and, in turn, that was the reason for Mello's hospitalization and recent requests for extensions of time in the case. To that end, the fact that Mr. Mello was serving discovery information to Mr. Bradl, from the hospital, is a testament to good public service. Mr. Bradl quickly backed down today in court from his allegations that Mello was lying about his health. I think Bradl could sense even the TurtleBoy supporters thought he had crossed a line. Maybe there is some hope for humanity after all. Kearney is back on court Friday as he attempts to life a year-long restraining order, obtained by local anti-#RevengePorn advocate Lindsey Gaetani. At the same time, Kearney, today in court, told the Judge that he intends to try to compel Lindsey, via Rule 17, to turn over her phone records to him for, what I would call, a fishing expedition. Gaetani, last week, raised $8,000 in just 24 hours in an amazing show of support in her fight to keep the RO against Kearney active. Speaking on social media site @GiveSendGo after those funds were raised, Gaetani said; "I want to thank everyone who so generously donated to the fundraiser that was created to help me with securing an attorney! I am blown away by the outpouring of support, and words will never be able to convey how much this means to me. Time was of the essence, but we reached the goal in just over 24 hours! I have officially signed an agreement with an attorney and can now get to work. Please know that I am eternally grateful, and your messages of support have given me the strength to keep fighting.
