Of all the banger lines cinema has given us this year, “Kora, I know what you are, and I love you” may just be the one that has stayed with me the most. 🥹😭😭

One thing I've learned this year, is that it definitely doesn't feel like it matters.

It’s wild to me that as a society we allowed a movie with the line “Nihilism is the sexy bacon” flop at the movie theaters. We used to be a country people!

@TheExilesNet It was a very successful play in which many of the actors were in! I am optimistic

I'm excited about this project. I am trying not to get my expectations too out of line. I don't want to be overly excited or too skeptical, but this cast is stacked, and the premise has me intrigued.

@TheExilesNet Thank you! Absolutely agree. This just pushes studios to create formulaic scripts which really hasn’t done anyone any favors.

A frustrating thing in film criticism/analysis is those who try to bring in the "facts and logic" ethos. It's not like it doesn't have a place, but it's so incredibly cold, secular, and unhelpful. You haven't won anything by formulaically deconstructing the filmgoing experience.

I'm not speaking to your character in particular, Possum, but this statement often feels disingenuous. I'll explain. The statement is trying to make a distinction between "enjoying" and "understanding" a piece. If that were true then you should be able to enjoy a film that you did not understand. Many who use this terminology would likely never admit that. Which is why I would not usually trust them when they said they understood a film. It is far more likely that they could be a little more humble and self-aware and confess to the parts they didn't understand. I'm going to use some broad strokes here but I think many will understand the picture I'm painting. There are often certain "YouTuber types" whose general philosophy is that film is a service industry in which the creators' job is to meet the audience where they are not the other way around. With that understanding, it makes statements like "I got it but didn't like it" even more disingenuous because the context is that many (not all) of these individuals have explicitly stated that accessibility is a virtue. To add to this, influencers with platforms whose job it is to tell people whether they should go see a film or not instead of promoting curiosity or discussion are disincentivized from ever suggesting they didn't understand something, further making their claims to insight more disingenuous.

I am still trying to find out what Megalopolis is. My running theory is a Shakespearean pastiche of the last century with the Roman empire as a reference point.

@TheExilesNet That’s what I’m saying! Ain’t no words to describe that .. can I even call it a film? Or did I just experience a journey through an artists imagination and came out the other side with my soul a little less tainted? Who knows!
