Terraria's bunny 🐇 cloud ☁️ inspired me to make one myself, but later I made the cloud art-style less restrictive and made aquatic animals instead 🐋 #gameart #gamedev #indiedev #indiegame I do wonder though if there are other animals that could work well with the old constraint

I don't have something new ready this #screenshotsaturday so here's an old vid and some context: After waking up, the cat is hungry, and the player (cat's leg) shrinks to death over time, you survive off fruits which grow the player & give more time #indiedev #indiegame #gamedev

I just realized, KSI is not a screen/ring/pen, those are external entertainment mediums. Following that logic he can't be the king, he's gotta be the court jester

My 2nd music which I made 1 yr ago. I knew almost nothing about structure so I stretched the 2nd (utterly unstructured) part to match the 1st but then I realized the 1st part was an abacad which sucks so I cut it to an abac. The more I listen the more flaws I notice 😭 #gamemusic

Gaussian blur can be optimized as an X and a Y pass (e.g. 16+16=32 samples) instead of a combined pass (16*16=256). I didnt feel like trying to recreate ppv2's bloom, so instead I altered a 2 pass gaussian blur's weights for a + shaped bloom in my custom engine #gamedev #indiedev

I tried to deduce 🕵️‍♀️ the bug by disabling features, but all that did was make the glitch look a little different each time. I couldnt find the cause until I just stumbled upon the bad code... One animated sprite, brought all manner of chaos to the entire scene #gamedev #indiedev

My custom engine builds ran slower than my unity builds, so out of desperation I switched to b̶o̶n̶e̶l̶e̶s̶s̶ bindless rendering. This is my favourite bug; I forgot to remove a stride mult from SkinnedMeshRenderer so it was animating out of bounds vertices! #gamedev #indiedev

@ShitpostRock tbf developing a game has more overhead for debugging and editor gui so development pcs should be faster (especially the CPU), but this is one of the reasons I like using a gtx 1050ti with a 144hz monitor, to make me really strive for optimization

@CodeRed_dev I'm like 10x more objective/critical of my game if I've been away from it for a few months

As a gamedev it's really hard to be objective about your game or even admit your work needs improvement.

@OmotamiaDev @RWSstudios If you want steamworks features such as achievements or joining friends in multiplayer etc, your game will depend on steam being open to work properly unless you do some extra trickery or something.

@RWSstudios Huh, still new to the whole Steam thing, but you can literally just make it an option to not include DRM? Will keep this in mind when I get closer to launch.

Developers can opt to make their Steam games DRM-free, which is what we and plenty other indie devs did. All you need to do is move the game files somewhere else and you'll have a copy for yourself that can't be taken away from you. That gives you... ownership of the game.

Steam's new disclaimer reminds everyone that you don't actually own your games, GOG moves in for the killshot: Its offline installers "cannot be taken away from you." trib.al/hOjlRHB
