Most people think Ghostwriting is about being a good writer.
But it's about sharing "thinking" of others in the most scalable way possible.
Here's how to build a one-person Ghostwriting business in 2024:
(Even if you have 0 clients and no other experience)
.
.
.
.
"What is a Ghostwriter?"
Nobody, as a kid, dreams of becoming a Ghostwriter.
It's something you fall into.
Either you see someone writing, or somebody asks you to write something for them.
So, thousands of people call themselves "Ghostwriters," offering different services for $50 per hour.
If you google it, Ghostwriting means —
"A person who writes material for someone else."
But as a ghostwriter, you're getting paid to do more than just write.
• You need good writing skills
• A specific niche
• An irresistible offer
• An ideal client
You're not a "Freelance Writer." You don't write "anything" for "anyone."
You're a "Ghostwriter". You write for a specific person in a specific type of industry.
Now, if you dig deeper, I will explain Ghostwriting better than Google:
—> Premium positioning
Less is more.
You think you need to be "everything" to "everyone."
But it's much easier:
1. To solve 1 specific problem
When you solve 1 Specific Problem, you get to know that problem better than anyone else.
2. For 1 specific person
When you write for 1 specific person:
• It's easier for clients to find you
• They immediately trust you
• You know way more about the problems these people face
3. In 1 specific (unique) way
When you solve obvious problems in non-obvious ways or solve non-obvious problems in obvious ways.
Here's an example:
• 1 Specific Problem - "I help people to WRITE."
• 1 Specific Person - "I help NEWBIES to build a writing business."
• 1 Specific Way - "I ghostwrite WEEKLY NEWSLETTER that helps newbies to build a successful writing business."
—> Premium offer
90% of people are stuck in a rat race.
Because they don't know how to make money on their own.
All of this has a 1 specific solution of "learning a skill and crafting an irresistible offer."
An Irresistible Offer is when you get hyper-specific about:
• WHO you can help (1 person)
• WHY you can help (1 problem)
• HOW you can help (1 way)
You shouldn't be in the business saying, "Hire me! I'll write whatever you need for $50 per hour."
You need to repeat your offer over and over again to create:
• Systems
• Processes
• Templates
Which allows you to perform the same work faster and faster over time.
—> Premium outreach
In the world of sales, trust is everything.
People only open their wallets when they believe in you.
When I was working in my 9-5 job.
I cold outreach to clients who had no idea who I was, and convincing them to invest seemed like an impossible task.
It felt a bit sleazy.
The vast majority of people think about cold outreach this way.
As a result, they annoy many people because nobody wants to be "sold."
But in the world of Ghostwriting, outreaching means:
• Making friends
• Helping people to scale
• Increasing response rates from clients by 10x
Try to sell your emotions, not services.
How will you implement this?
1. Don't be a "Freelance Writer," be a "Ghostwriter."
2. Instead of trying to scale up your path, try to scale down.
3. Don't wait for the client to come for you, go out and pitch them directly.
4. Solve 1 Specific Problem with 1 Specific Person in a new, unique, or different way.
