A good crowd showed up at Schroeder Park this past Saturday to participate in the Honeysuckle Hack. With lopping shears in hand, they went into the park's wooded area to rid it of the invasive plant species. Thanks to all who participated!

Thursday, Dec. 15 is the annual Senior Citizens' Holiday Luncheon at the First Free Church. Beginning at noon, residents age 65 and older can enjoy a free lunch. Reservations are required and will be accepted on Nov. 15. Only 200 spots are available, so don't delay registering.

The City of Manchester would like to thank all active duty military personnel and veterans by providing a free breakfast on Veterans Day at American Legion Post 208, 225 Sulphur Spring Rd. You and your families are welcome.

On Friday, Nov. 11, the City of Manchester Veterans Commission will host a special Hometown Heroes Appreciation Night at the Manchester Justice Center. At 6 p.m. there will be a ceremony honoring service members featured on the Hometown Heroes banners.

If you are 55 and over and are looking for a fun, active group to join, look no further! The Lafayette Older Adults Program (L.O.A.P.) is a partnership between Manchester and several other cities and school districts. The cost is $2 per event.

Run for fun and join the Manchester Running Club! The club will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-6:45 p.m. starting on November 8 with participants working towards competing in a New Year's Day 5k. For more information, contact Drew Hill at dhill@manchestermo.gov.

Beginning on Nov. 1, Manchester Parks will begin winterization of restrooms and water fountains. In addition, pavilion rentals will no longer be available. Restrooms and water fountains will reopen and pavilion rental reservations will resume next spring.

If you're a senior seeking a fun activity during the week, head out to the Parks Building in Schroeder Park for bingo. Games take place on the first and third Thursdays from 9-10:30 a.m. It costs $2 each day. No pre-registration is needed.

Our next Manchester Community Band Concert is July 17th at 6:30pm. This concert we will be "Raising a Glass" to raising and break glass ceilings by performing works by composers who have broken through barriers in their industry. Mark you calendars, we will see you then!
