It’s hilarious to see US politicians think Trump was going to plea for Jimmy Lai’s release with Xi, the chance of that happening was always ZERO.
At the end of the day Trump’s main purpose in going to China is to secure business deals with China. Look at the list of American CEOs accompanying Trump to Beijing. The US and China will sign new deals, increase cooperation and Trump will be able to spin this as a huge “Art of the Deal” moment that only he was able to secure.
Jimmy Lai is in jail for a reason and there was never any chance Trump would overstep his boundaries and interfere in something that honestly has nothing to do with the US and honestly is not important to him in any manner.
The Bulwark@BulwarkOnline
Trump on Jimmy Lai: "Jimmy Lai, you know, caused a lot of bedlam. It's like saying to me, 'If Comey ever went to jail, would you let him out?' Might be a hard one for me…Because he's a dirty cop. But Jimmy Lai isn't that way. But Jimmy Lai, he caused lots of turmoil for China."

@D162Michele Michelle, China takes ZERO refugees in from anywhere.

@Eng_china5 @grok Let's see how well you do traveling half way around the world and put into a concrete-laden area under the sun.
English

Tell us @grok Why did ELON MUSK make an unusual neck and head movement while standing under Beijing’s sun during the preparations for the official welcome at the Great Hall of the People?
English

🚨 HERE'S HOW THE LAST 72 HOURS ACTUALLY UNFOLDED — AND WHY IT MATTERS:
→ May 11-12: White House quietly curates a list of the top 30 business leaders on Earth — personally selected by Trump
→ Jensen Huang added last-minute after Nvidia export approvals cleared
→ Every single one of the 30 said YES — not one declined
→ May 13: Trump lands in Beijing for his first presidential visit to China in nearly a decade
→ May 14: The delegation walks into the Great Hall of the People
And THEN Trump tells Xi directly, on camera:
"We ask the top 30 in the world, EVERY single one of them say yes. And I didn't want the second but the third of the company!"
"I wanted only the top. And they're here today to pay respects to you, to China."
Let that sequence sink in.
→ Elon Musk — the man China competes with in EVs
→ Jensen Huang — the man who controls the chips China needs most
→ Tim Cook — the man whose entire supply chain runs through China
→ 30 executives. Combined net worth of the top 5 alone: $870,000,000,000
This wasn't assembled overnight. It was engineered — deliberately, at the highest level — to send ONE message before a single word of trade negotiation began:
The people who actually move money, factories, and technology are ALL in this room. Together. Right now.
That's not diplomacy.
That's leverage with a handshake.
I'll share more details shortly so turn on notifications, this is VERY important.

Too many people have accepted Donald Trump’s presidency as "normal." Too many believe there is nothing we can do, and that we simply need to outlast his term.
Let me be clear: We cannot endure another 32 months with this mendacious, narcissistic, rapist, want to be dictator who is selling us out to the highest bidder.
Not only can we stand up and fight back—we must.
Join our campaign so we can take this fight to Congress to impeach, convict, and remove Trump and his cabinet.

.@POTUS meets with President Xi at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing: "It's an honor to be with you, it's an honor to be your friend, and the relationship between China and the U.S.A. is going to be better than ever before. Thank you very much!"
English

@shaunrein Why are you saying "We" when it's plain to see that your allegiance is with China?

Listen, it's obvious you see no problem in having children working in a Chinese company. The CHILD was directly involved in negotiating a deal with the company's customer. That breaks CHILD LABOR LAW and in fact, most companies would NOT DO BUSINESS with a Chinese company that uses child labor in ANY WAY.
English

@Mandic_Brothers @donafal_ @shen_shiwei It said that her mom 's company, she was helping her mom, I don't think anything is wrong, and you can't accuse China 's trading company of abusing child labor, because of this particular case. The minimum age of China's hiring law is no younger than 16.

Why is China hub of global trade?
This 12 yrs old Chinese girl is an expert on the art of deal!
When helping her mother to deal with overseas clients at #CantonFair, she has a clear mind on how how to deal the supply chain disruptions caused by the🇺🇸US-🇮🇱#Israel war on #Iran.
English

@WeiWang49461448 @donafal_ @shen_shiwei Are you really trying to make excuses for this obvious use of child labor in a Chinese trading company?
English

@donafal_ @Mandic_Brothers @shen_shiwei Many kids in the US help families from a young age, some are because of family 's financial situation, some are just under early training purposes.
English

@D162Michele You realize you would be banned off any Chinese social platform if you posted this image?
English

@ShangguanJiewen Apples to Oranges comparison. Why not add up all the free labor these parents get from grandma and grandpa living with them, taking care of the baby, as both parents continue to work because living is so expensive?
