If he came here, he already has the connection with the fans and it buys him time. If he’s standing there quiet on the touch line at Chelsea while they’re losing a game it won’t take much at all for people to turn
If it doesn’t work out for Alonso at Chelsea, it shouldn’t come as a surprise because the idea of him celebrating a Chelsea goal at Stamford Bridge is so weird. He’s already the ex Liverpool player in the minds of plenty in that stadium and he doesn’t have a strong personality.
@BBCMOTD lol its a plastic club built on rotten oil money, only clueless plastic fans respect chelsea as a club cus they know no different. chelsea were nothing before oil money. its like calling a woman "one of the most beautiful women on earth" after shes had multiple plastic surgeries
Xabi Alonso says he is 'immensely proud' to be appointed as manager of 'one of the biggest clubs in world football.' 🔵
He'll begin his job as Chelsea manager on 1st July ✅
@TheAthleticFC Xabi, as he showed in his playing caree, is a respectful mercenary. He is well liked by us LFC fans, but he is not that loyal to us. He has taken the job at a club that may not be in the Uefa Conference Lge next year, that has wild/crazy recruitment with players focussed on money
Xabi Alonso has been appointed Chelsea manager on a four-year contract.
“Chelsea is one of the biggest clubs in world football and it fills me with immense pride to become manager of this great club,” Alonso said in a Chelsea statement.
“From my conversations with the ownership group and sporting leadership, it is clear we share the same ambition. We want to build a team capable of competing consistently at the highest level and fighting for trophies.
“There is great talent in the squad and huge potential at this football club and it will be my great honour to lead it. Now the focus is on hard work, building the right culture and winning trophies.”

@ChelsTransfer@japtejghura They're about to appoint Alonso which 99% of the fan base wants, but let's rather protest instead of channeling that energy to support the players
🚨 Chelsea have had a direct meeting with Xabi Alonso and final decision is expected very soon.
#CFC plan to announce their next manager before the World Cup, talks are accelerating.
Chelsea also spoke to Iraola, Glasner and Marco Silva as part of their list.
Maresca understood what the squad lacked.
He adjusted his system and still got results, but the lack of quality and experience eventually caught up with us.
All he needed was proper backing. But now, we’re having to start all over again.
Will BlueCo get it right this time?
@CFCPys@guardian_sport Been saying it if those morons doesn't start receiving dæth threats physically or otherwise they won't charge. Force them out not by making noise with banners on the streets
🚨 JUST IN: Chelsea have also MET with Iraola. Something that has been acknowledged by the recruitment department is the need for the team to become more physical. That heightens the appeal of Iraola. There is a sense he is capable of scaling up to a bigger job. (@guardian_sport)
